Stopped in at information center to reserve a boat only camp site. Place was packed even though it was weekend after labor day weekend and the children are back in school. Staff was very pleasant and helpful got us the information we needed in a timely fashion.
Incredible place to get your nature fix without all the restrictions and congestion you'll find at traditional parks.
If you plan to paddle or fish for trout on the Kickapoo River, ride on horseback, bike, or hike through the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, then a stop at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Visitor Center is a must.
The second reason to stop at the visitor center, even when the main building is closed, is to get water and use the restrooms at the maintenance building. They have drinking fountains and decent restrooms. Stop in on the way to or from your day in the outdoors.
The first reason to stop at the visitor center is to pay your fees for parking, camping, or trail use. Sign up for a yearly pass at $15 and it will pay for itself if you need to park in the Reserve on 4 days of the year. The staff at the visitor center are professional and friendly. They can answer any questions you might have about all the activities the Reserve can provide.
Very pretty area. Nice visitor center
